What
is an Industrial and Provident Society?
Industrial and Provident Societies
are set up to benefit the
community and are:-
Employee owned (employees can buy
one share in the company)
Employee led (employees make up
the majority of seats on the Management
Board)
Our annual turnover is around £5.5
million, and as an IPS the Trust
benefits from tax advantages which
means a considerable cost saving.
The local authority agreed to reinvest
half of that saving into service
improvements for the Trust.
About
Us
The business retains the public
sector ethos but this is combined
with greater private sector freedoms
and a clearer focus. In this way
it is our aim to increase the
number and range of users, so
increasing income and reducing
dependency on local authority
funding.
Our
Vision
“To provide high class facilities
that are accessible to all”
Our
Mission
“To provide the appropriate
number of quality leisure facilities
and activities, that are affordable,
for an increasing number and range
of users so they want to return
time and again”
Our
Objectives
- “To meet and
where possible exceed the financial
targets set to facilitate the
provision of a sustainable leisure
service”
- “To actively work towards
meeting the expectation and needs
of customers and stakeholders”
- “To employ a high calibre
workforce and to provide and sustain
a working environment that attracts,
retains, empowers and develops
employees.”
Celtic Community Leisure became
an accredited Investor In People
in November 2004.
- “To develop a best value
ethos by designing and implementing
performance systems to facilitate
continuous improvement throughout
the organisation in the delivery
of the service”
Three of our nine sites have already
achieved Quest accreditation which
is the industry quality standard
for leisure providers. All of
our sites are due to be assessed
against the standard in the near
future. There are presently only
seven sites including our three,
in Wales who meet this quality
standard.
